This transgene contains a 1.3 kb mouse myelin basic protein promoter upstream of the Cre recombinase coding sequence followed by an SV40 polyadenylation signal. Cre recombinase is expressed in central nervous system (CNS) oligodendroglia. Ectopic expression in the gonads results in germ line Cre activity in some transgenic animals. (J:82809, J:115216)
