A LacZ-neo cassette was inserted into exon 1, six codons downstream of the translational start site. Northern blot analysis revealed absence of transcript in primary neurons isolated from hemizygous mutant males. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in mutant retinal tissue. (J:227053)
