The targeting construct inserted a tamoxifen-inducible cre recombinase gene (cre/ERT2) and floxed neomycin resistnace cassette. Cre-mediated recombination removed the selection cassette. In situ hybridization fails to detect cre expression. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR confirmed the absence of transcript expression in the heart at E12.5. (J:225159)
