An FRT- and loxP flanked neomycin resistance cassette was inserted upstream of exon 2. A third loxP site was inserted downstream of the coding sequence in exon 3. Cre-mediated recombination removed the selection cassette, exon 2 and the coding sequence in exon 3. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in the brain. (J:224136)
