The transgene expressed EGFP under the control of a 4.8 kb mouse S100B promoter gene sequence located 5' to the translation initiation site. Several transgenic lines were generated, with lines 4, 9, and 11 displayed identical EGFP expression patterns. Line 11 displays the highest level of EGFP expression and was expanded and studied further. In adult mice, the highest level of EGFP expression was found in ependymocytes; astrocytes; and spinal, medullar, pontine, and deep cerebellar S100B neurons. (J:82129)
