A 2 kb long H-2Kb 5' regulatory sequences, including the promoter was fused to the E. coli lacZ gene. In this line, lacZ expression in the brain cortex is exactly restricted to the somatosensory area. This marker was used in combination with embryonic cortex transplantation experiments to monitor the establishment of neocortex regionalization. (J:79264)
