A tdTomato-IRESs-Cre cassette was inserted by homologous recombination into the RP23-341J22 bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) that contains 146 kb upstream and 73 kb downstream of the 39kb Nos2 gene. The cassette was inserted into exon 2 with the ATG of the tdTomato replacing the endogenous ATG. The recombined BAC was then used to generate the transgenic mouse. The expression of tdTomato and CRE recombinase faithfully recapitulates the endogenous expression of NOS2. (J:209609)
