A floxed neomycin resistance cassette replaced most of exon 4. An in-frame stop codon was additionally inserted downstream of the remainder of exon 4. This deletion caused a loss of zinc finger motifs ZF2 to ZF30, among which the ZF9 to ZF30 motifs are required for neuralizing activity. Northern blot analysis confirmed the absence of transcript expression in the brain. (J:214267)
