Exon 2 was replaced with lacZ and neo cassettes. Beta-galactosidase is not expressed. Western blot analysis confirmed absence of protein expression in extracts of paw skin. Expression of two genes adjacent to Slurp1, Slurp2 and Lypd2, are reduced by 60-70% in homozygous mice. (J:210836)
