The targeting vector inserted loxP sites flanking exon 1 and an adjacent neomycin resistance gene with another loxP site at the 3' end. The floxed neo and exon 1 were removed via cre-mediated recombination. RT-PCR and Western blot analysis confirmed absence of mRNA and protein. (J:209913)
