Exon 2 was replaced with one in which nucleotide substitutions (AAG to TCG and AAA to TCT) result in the amino acid substitution of serine for lysine at positions 24 and 25 (K24S, K25S). A premature stop codon was introduced into exon 4 preventing the translation of the last 30 amino acids. The predicted product is expected to not be able to interact with heparan sulfate structures while not affecting CXCR4-depedent cell signaling. Cre-mediated recombination removed the floxed neomycin resistance cassette inserted downstream of exon 3. (J:209558)
