The entire open reading frame of Tectb followed by an IRES, the EGFP open reading frame and a poly(A) addition signal from SV40 were fused out of frame with the start codon. The mRNA transcribed from the targeted allele fails to express Tectb but does express EGFP, acting as a reporter in those cells expressing the endogenous gene. (J:211102)
