The pancreas-specific rat insulin II promoter drives the expression of the lymphocytic choriomeningitis viral glycoprotein. Exons 2 and 3 of the beta-globin gene were ligated to the 3' end of the construct to provide splicing and polyadenylation signals. Immunohistochemistry confirmed protein expression in the pancreas. Two lines were established, Bln and Brx. However, the pound symbol (#) is used because the lines are pooled. (J:81285)
