A BAC (RP24-331H13) containing the entire Wfs1 gene was modified by recombineering in bacterial cells to contain a cre recombinase cassette inserted in-frame into exon 2 of Wfs1 and an frt-flanked kanamycin marker. Arabinose-induced flp-mediated removal of the selection marker was performed before injection of the construct into pronuclei of fertilized oocytes. Line 5 was established and analyzed. (J:207487)
