A minigene construct was generated with a 2.5 kb fragment of the 5' promoter region of the Jdp2 gene, cre recombinase with a nuclear localization signal (NLS), an IRES site, and an NLS-lacZ sequence followed by an SV40 polyA signal. The linearized construct was used for microinjection of fertilized FVB/N oocytes. 25 founder lines were produced, and were crossed to lacZ (R26R-lacZ) or GFP (Z/EG) reporter animals to assess cre functionality.
