A BAC (RP24-329P6) containing the Cga (alphaGSU) gene was modified by inserting a cassette composed of the sequence encoding a mammalian codon usage optimized cre recombinase (icre) and an Frt-flanked kanamycin selection marker, replacing the start codon in exon 2 of Cga with the ATG initiation codon of cre. Flpe excision removed the kanamycin selection marker. The modified BAC was injected into pronuclei of fertilized oocytes to generate transgenic mice. Line 961 was established. (J:204533)
