Tg(RHO-cre)1Qliu

A vector containing the bovine rhodopsin promoter (RHO) and cre recombinase with a nuclear localization signal sequence was used for pronuclear injection of C57BL/6 x SJL oocytes. Nine transgenic founders were generated. RT-PCR analysis showed only retina-specific expression with no other positive tissue. The mice were crossed with Rosa26R-lacZ reporter animals to assess cre activity and specificity, with recombination (lacZ staining) detected specifically in rod photoreceptors. (J:205526)
