A loxP site was inserted in intron 1 just upstream of exon 2 and its start codon. An FRT flanked neomycin selection cassette followed by a second loxP site was also inserted in intron 3. Properly targeted chimeric mice were then bred to mice expressing flp recombinase leading to excision of the selection cassette. (J:197148)
