The 7039-bp Mef2c-F1 enhancer fragment was used to direct expression of Hspa1b-lacZ. beta-gal expression directed by the Mef2c-F1-lacZ enhancer was detected in the neural crest and its derivatives, including the craniofacial mesenchyme, the peripheral and enteric nervous systems, and melanocytes.
