A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 3. An FRT flanked neo cassette with a 3' loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 5. Cre-mediated recombination removed exons 3 through 5. Immunohistochemistry confirmed the absence of protein expression in embryos. (J:199139)
