Intron 6 was replaced with a modified intron 6 with a mutation (A to T) 4 nucleotides into the intron affecting the exon 6 splice acceptor site, and a floxed neomycin resistance cassette. Cre-mediated recombination removed the neomycin resistance cassette. Western blot analysis confirmed the lack of expression in the substantia nigra. (J:197646)
