This transgene contains a full length cDNA encoding the 01:03 variant of the alpha chain of the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II DP receptor (HLA-DPA1*1:03) inserted into a mouse genomic DNA fragment downstream of the promoter of the histocompatibility 2, class II antigen A, alpha (H2-Aa) locus. The human cDNA is followed by the mouse H2-Aa 3' noncoding sequence. Mice bearing this transgene in combination with Tg(H2-Ab1-HLA-DPB1)1Lone express a human HLA-DPalpha103/DPbeta401 complex that is specifically recognized by the anti-HLA-DP monoclonal antibody B72.
