One loxP site was inserted in the 5'UTR and a second loxP site followed by a FRT-flanked kanamycin resistance cassette was inserted in the 3'UTR. The single coding exon is thus flanked by loxP sites. The coding exon was subsequently excised in properly targeted mice by cre expression. (J:193452, J:216397)
