An FRT flanked neo cassette and loxP site were inserted upstream of exon 2 and a loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 2 via homologous recombination. Flp mediated recombination removed the neo cassette. Cre mediated recombination removed exon 2. In situ hybridization and immunohistochemical analysis confirmed the absence of mRNA and protein in brain sections from homozygous mice. (J:189593)
