The coding sequence of cre recombinase was divided into 2 parts. Each fragment was fused with GCN4-coiled coil domain, which allows stable dimers to form. Each Cre fragment is placed under the control of a Crym promoter in BAC RP24-62I5. The assembly of a functional Cre recombinase molecule can occur in cells where both promoters are active. The resulting modified BAC (BX1076) was used to generate this transgene. (J:100256)
