An FRT flanked construct, consisting of a splice acceptor site, IRES-LacZ neo cassette and a pgk-BSD (blasticidin resistance gene) cassette, and a loxP site were inserted upstream of exon 4 and a loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 4 via homologous recombination. Flp and cre mediated recombination removed the construct and exon 4, respectively. (J:183982)
