A loxP site was inserted upstream of the sequence and an FRT flanked neo cassette and loxP site were inserted downstream of the sequence via homologous recombination. Cre mediated recombination removed the sequence and the neo cassette. RNA analysis confirmed the absence of expression in homozygous mice. Northern blot analysis confirmed expression of Vmp1.
