The transgenic construct contained the lymphotropic papovavirus (LPV) control region followed by an intron-nls cre-polyA sequence. This fragment was microinjected into fertilized pronuclei and four founders were generated, Two founders (0605 and 0607) transmitted the transgene to F1 offspring. Line 607 animals were crossed to Z/EG reporter mice and EGFP protein and mRNA were analyzed. EGFP expression was detected only in the brain and only the choroid plexus epithelium was positive for EGFP protein with no overlap with GFAP detection, indicating no expression in astrocytes. This line carries four copies of the transgene. (J:183582)
