A point mutation was introduced into exon 1a causing the cysteine encoded by codon 43 to be replaced by serine (C43S). An FRT-flanked neomycin selection cassette was inserted 593 bp downstream. The selection cassette was subsequently removed by crossing to mice expressing flp recombinase. (J:181180)
