Exon 1 was disrupted by the insertion of an IRES-lacZ-neo cassette. The absence of transcript expression was confirmed by RT-PCR on E17 posterior midbrain extracts. X-gal staining confirmed the expression of lacZ in the entire midbrain of newborns. (J:177585)
