The following elements were placed downstream and in frame of exon 2: a loxP, EGFP, self-extracting and FRT-flanked neo cassette, and an additional loxP site. The presence of the Flp gene introduces a premature stop codon and produces a truncated protein. The absence of transcript expression was confirmed by in situ hydridization on brain sections.
