Homologous recombination was employed to insert an Frt-flanked neo cassette followed by an loxP site after exon 2 of Fstl1 and another loxP site before exon 2. Chimeric males were crossed to FVB females, and the offspring were crossed to Flpe deleters to remove the neo cassette, and then crossed to CMV-cre transgenic animals to delete exon 2. (J:176532)
