A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 3. An IRES-lacZ-neo cassette with a 5' loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 3. Cre-mediated recombination removed exon 3 and allowed for the expression of the lacZ gene. The absence of protein expression was confirmed by western blot analysis on cerebellar extracts. (J:174091)
