Exons 4 and 5 were flanked by loxP sites and an FRT flanked neomycin selection cassette was inserted in intron 5 downstream of one of the loxP sites. The neo cassette was subsequently removed by crossing to flp expressing mice. Crossing to mice expressing cre in the germline excised exons 4 and 5. (J:173884)
