A portion of the coding region was targeted by homologous recombination. The entire exon 3 (260 bp) was replaced with a targeting cassette containing the beta-gal reporter gene, lacZ, followed by a floxed neomycin resistance cassette. Real-time PCR analysis confirmed the absence of mRNA expression in epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT) of homozygous mutant mice. (J:171883, J:282612)
