A UPA gene trap vector inserted into the sixth intron of the gene. This mutation is predicted result in the production of a truncated transcript. Immunofluorescence experiments of the small intestine and kidney proximal tubule of 3-day-old homozygous mutant pups showed that no expression is detected in the small intestine and kidney proximal tubule compared to control littermates.
