Nearly all of exon 8 was replaced by a nlacZ reporter cassette and a floxed neo cassette, which was removed by cre-mediated recombination. The absence of isoform 5 transcript and isoform 4/5 proteins in the inner ear was confirmed by RT-PCR and western blot analysis respectively. Isoform 1 is retained. (J:167947)
