The first coding exon was replaced with a lacZ/neo cassette. Quantitative RT-PCR, northern and western blot analysis confirmed the absence of RNA and protein expression in homozygous embryos. LacZ expression is detected in the vasculature in heterozygous embryos at E10.5. (J:166127)
