The 1.0 kb promoter of the Atp4b gene was cloned into a vector upstream of the 1.2 kb cre recombinase coding sequence and a 2.1 kb human growth hormone gene polyadenylation signal. The 4.3 kb construct was linearized and injected into pronuclei of fertilized FVB oocytes. Two founder animals (3 and 5) were obtained that had the transgene integrated into the genome. Analyses of crosses to a reporter line showed cre recombination occurred only in the stomach, detected at P13. Both lines showed the same pattern of recombination. (J:164715)
