A sequence encoding a 17 amino acid peptide derived from yeast actin binding protein and called Lifeact was fused to mRuby and placed under the control of the CAG promoter. The resulting product binds to F-actin in living cells. Strong fluorescence was detected throughout embryogenesis in embryos carrying this transgene. (J:164274)
