This transgene contains the tetracycline responsive element (TRE) driving expression, from a minimal promoter, of a mutant guanine nucleotide-binding protein, alpha q polypeptide (alpha q) in which the arginine at amino acid position 183 has been replaced by cysteine (R183C). This constitutively active mutant protein maintains phospholipase C in an active state. It is expressed in the presence of tTA without tetracycline (tet-off) or in the presence of rtTA and tetracycline (tet-on), (J:94077)
