This transgene contains the tetracycline transactivator responsive element (TRE) driving expression, from a minimal promoter, of the catalytic S1 subunit of pertussis toxin, encoded by ptxA. This permits tTA (tet-off) or rtTA (tet-on) to induce expression of PTX-S1, which blocks signaling via the pertussis toxin-sensitive G proteins (Gi and Go). (J:94077)
