A human BCL2L1 cDNA was cloned under the regulatory control of the SV40 promoter and the IgH enhancer (Emu). The 2.4-kb fragment containing the SV40-Emu-bcl-xL insert was microinjected into F2 hybrid zygotes from (C57BL/6 x SJL/J)F l parents. Three founder mice expressing the human cDNA BCL2L1 in lymphoid tissue, as determined by Western blot analysis, were recovered. Expression was restricted to the B-cell compartment in Line 87.
