A loxP-flanked neomycin phosphotransferase cassette was inserted with intron 1 and another loxP sequence 5' to exon 1 by homologous recombination. The selection cassette and exon 1 were removed by cre mediated recombination. Absence of protein was confirmed by western blot of whole brain extracts. (J:158266)
