Exon 1 was disrupted by the insertion of a cassette containing a cre, IRES, nuclear localization signal, and lacZ in frame with the ATG start site. An frt flanked neomycin cassette was inserted following lacZ. Chimeric males were crossed with females expressing Flp recombinase on a C57BL/6 background in order to excise the neo selection cassette. (J:157446)
