A 1.4 kb region upstream of the Sox9 gene was identified to be sufficient to produce embryonic testis-specific Sox9 expression. This sequence (TESCO; testis-specific enhancer of Sox9, core sequence) was used to drive ECFP expression in the transgenic construct. (J:136679)
