The mutant allele was generated by deleting a sequence covering exon 1, which includes the start codon and the DM binding domain of the encoded protein. A loxP-flanked neomycin selection cassette replaced a part of exon 1, and the cassette was subsequently removed via cre-mediated recombination. (J:187218)
