A cassette containing an IRES sequence, EGFP/cre fusion, and frt flanked neo and histidine markers was inserted into the 3' UTR. Germ line, flp mediated recombination removed the neo and histidine markers. Cre activity is detected in nearly all cells in the CA3 and a smaller fraction of dentate gyrus cells starting at postnatal week 1. (J:154648)
