The BAC clone RPCI23, 461E7 was modified by targeted replacement of the coding portion of exon 1, all of exon 2 and part of exon 3 of the Aire gene with a construct containing a beta globin donor and acceptor cassette, a G6pc2/GFP fusion sequence and SV40 polyadenylation signal. The resulting transgene does not express Aire. Two NOD and two C57BL/6 founders were produced. The two NOD founders were propagated. (J:154359)
