Exons 2, 3, and 4 were replaced with a lacZ gene and neomycin resistance gene cassette inserted in-frame with the ATG start codon in exon 2. Quantitative RT-PCR and western blot analysis confirmed the absence of expression in lungs from homozygous mutants and homozygous MEFs, respectively. (J:153218)
